Can anyone tell me what the published OAL for a 44gr ballistic tip is for a 22 Hornet. I have checked it with the Stoney point OAL gage and I seems pretty deep in the case. With 10.5 grains on IMR 4227 the load appears to be pretty compressed and all my other manuals list it as a okay load.

I am at 1.810" base of Cartridge to tip of bullet.

Thanks

According to S.A.M.M.I. the maximum overall cartridge length for the 22 Hornet is 1.723" Your magazine box length plays a big part in how far you can seat your bullet out. You will have to measure it to see if this length is acceptable. If you are using a Thompson pistol, then of course that is not a factor. The load that you have is acceptable as long as the bullet does not touch the lands at 1.180".
