I have two different bags of Nosler Partition bullets, one with canelure and one without.
Measuring to the ogive on each bullet I find the difference to be .080.
Is it common for different lots of bullets to have that much difference?
I had a similar situation with .277cal. 150 PT,s with a cannular versus 150 PT,s without. The cannular bullets were 2nds. I do not know if it is common or not but I did have a large ogive difference also,
They shot fine. I used a shorter OAL is all I did. You can find ogive variations from lot to lot on 1sts as well. Not all that much though .015 to .020 perhaps. Ist thing I do when I open a new box is check them with my stoney point OAL gauge. Same as the hornady gauge. Make adjustments as necessary with OAL.
Just started using the OAL gauge. I've had the comparator for quite a long time but never really have used it much. Hopefully I can improve my results at the bench.
