Oh, No! Here Goes More Money!

I saw that but didn't want to be the one to cause more $$$ leaving your household or a disturbance in the marital bliss of your home

I'd like to be a Model 70 fan again.
When are they going to make left handed rifles again?

That's pretty sweet Mike. I don't know if it would have saved me from all the trouble of the build I am having done though. I really wanted a 24" barrel on my 280. Except for that small issue, it's a sweet rifle and the Featherweight is one of their nicer looking model 70's for sure. (y)

I hear ya', David. I'd like a little faster twist. However, the Model 70 in .280 that I have is a twenty-two inch barrel and a 10 twist. It has killed everything I ever asked it to kill, and did so with aplomb. It delivers 139/140 grain bullets into sub-MOA groups at reasonable velocities. Reviewing what it has delivered over the years, I see Hornady 139 grain SP at ~2850 fps into 0.5 inches, Hornady 162 grain SST at ~2700 fps into 0.67 inches, 140 grain AB at ~2740 into 0.6 inches, 140 BT at ~2890 fps into 0.6 inches, 140 grain PT at 2925 into 0.75 inches and 140 grain Swift A-Frames at ~2740 fps into 0.75 inches. Heavier bullets (150 to 162 grains) didn't do as well, only yielding ~1.00 to 1.20 inches. It has been a workhorse, providing quite a few head of game for our family. And the push feed Winchester before it was also a 10 twist and a twenty-two inch barrel. It shot even better than this. Guess I just love the cartridge; and when it is offered in such a lovely package...

I could easily be talked into one of those. Got to pay off my last hunt first though.

Mike do you not have a 280 already?

I have two. Always have room for another. Perhaps it would induce me to divest myself of one. Maybe?
