Older nosler 7mm 120 grain bullets.....

I might have to give them a try in my boys 7mm Mauser.. I have a couple 100 of the 2nds and have been wanting to try them out..

Scotty, the heavier jacketed 120 BT's should fly pretty well from your son's 7mm Mauser, Model 70. By careful load development, you should be even be able to get nearly 3000 fps with the 120 BT in the 7mm Mauser, if you wish to do so. With the thick jacket, that bullet should be a good whitetail killer at any velocity over 2700 fps.

the BT's packed 100 per box were just a cup core bullet, those packed 50 per box are a solid base boattail with a polymer tip, however the jackets are the same, they have always used the same cup for the 120's as they do the 140's so the 120 jacket is thicker.
at 7mm/08 velocities it should not be a problem with deer, any cup/core bullets worst enemy is high velocity impacts.
edited to add:
just checked my inventory, the box I loaded in my 7mm/08 savage 99 was a 100 box, they killed deer "deader than raid"

Good info. It definately looks thicker at the tip. All the good in field testimony makes it clear it will work great.

That is a heavy jacket.

I have used the 120 BTS at 3000 fps impact with great luck. Here is one from an antelope buck.

A couple guys I know at the range I shoot at swear by the BT for deer hunting! The 140 gr BT is hands down the best shooting bullet in my 280 Rem. I'm going to find out how well they work later this year on a deer/hog hunt in southeast Georgia.
