Today was a good example of bullet stability and weather conditions.

Shooting 172g Absolute Hammer bullets in a 26inch 8 twist 7 STW. Previous load workup last week with 45 degree temp and density altitude at 926...20251109_152329.jpg
Today in 25 degree temps and a density altitude of -915ft...20251109_152345.jpg
Note the keyhole at 12 o'clock. 😳

Need to gain twist or altitude. Pretty dense air here at home today.

That would make sense for sure. I bought a box of the 172g pre copper tariff figuring they would work. I did not get the speed advantage advertised so will probably just stick with HH or HHT bullets in the future. Have a couple of boxes of 153g HHTs and have a load in development using 155g Terminal Ascent bullets that shows promise.

Those HHTs look like a good bullet. If I was in the market to shoot monos, that'd probably be the one. However I only have a 9 twist on my 7-300 so it looks like I'd be limited to the 140g. The BCs aren't that great for what I'd do with them, but I'm sure they'd work just fine out to 600 yards or so.
