I E-mailed the BC government today to start the application process for a non-resident Moose license. DrMike has agreed to be my sponsor & gerry is going to hunt with us as well. I am so looking forward to this hunt as I will be hunting with new hunting partners (FRIENDS) in the mountains or at least have them insight .
I believe that all three of us will shooting 35 Whelens which is a first for me as well. The dates have been set (y) now just to hear back from the government which should be early next week.

Blessings,
Dan

Great Dan looking forward to the hunt :) going to be bringing both the 35 Whelen and the 270 Win. What dates are you looking at? I can be free after August 22nd which is my Mom's 80th birthday.

What great news! You three gentlemen enjoy your hunt and time together.

This is one of those situations where the stars are lining up "almost" perfectly. You are all using the wrong caliber
( it is .010 to large to be a perfect Moose caliber ), but outside of that ---it is all good

I may carry an 8X68S (just to be contrary) or a .280.

Everyone "knows" the 280 will be too light  Dan may allow you to use the 358 Norma however ;)

Dr Mike. Gerry,

isnt the 35 whelen and the 280 iust a reworked 30-06

now the 8 x 68S--that's different

Seriously, I hope you guys have a great time and that each of you have a successful hunt

The 8x68 is a cool round, I saw one in action once during my guiding career. Should be similar in performance to the 325 WSM.

Well, Cheyenne, how would you feel about me using my 9.3X64? It packs a pretty good wallop! I'd think it could bring down a moose. (y)

I can't see any daylight between the performance of the two, Gerry. I know the 325 will take down moose and elk pretty quickly. I have no doubt that 8X68S will work equally well.

The 9.3 x 64 would work well on this continent as well as the dark continent

Dr Mike, I was just being a brat on the 35 Whelen, as my new to me 348 sure does work well, I like it so, was just joking with Gerry and others. And of course my second needle was directed directly at Scotty, since he likes everything the 30-06 parented, but does not have the mother caliber in his safe.

I am very happy for you fellows, you guys will have so much fun. Maybe the start of a yearly hunt together program, next year sheep in Gerry's neck of the woods. Have fun and the best of luck on the hunt.

I've even thought of carrying my .356 this year. I haven't shot a moose for some years with this old lever gun (and now I have three, two of which have taken precisely nothing). Yeah, yank Scotty's chain; he needs to get on board with the '06. One day.

Cheyenne, you mentioned the 30-06  gerry's 270 win is also reworked from the -06 :). I personally never really liked the -06 but I really like what you can build off of that cartridge (y).
I will bring my 35 Whelen & my 280AI. The 280AI is for DrMike as I really believe he is a closet lefty & this will be his chance to shoot from the proper side  just saying !

Blessings,
Dan

Congrats guys!
I look forward to reading three hunting reports about this endeavor as each one will have a different perspective.
I was like Scotty in that I liked the 30-06 as a parent but never owned the parent. It only took me almost fifty years to see the light.

Man you guys I'm envious. Wonder if there will be a need for a doctor and a counselor both in the house with these three!  I wonder if there will be any hunting getting done or a lot of tall tales being told. Sounds like fun guys and best of luck to you all.

Me thinks they need to take Cheyenne as a chaperone to keep all the charades to a minimum! Sort of has a nice ring to it.

I've been married for almost 9 years and I've been trying to get at least one member of my wives family to get a license for 3 out of 5 years so I can get sponsored too. BC is probably the best place to hunt in North America and my in-laws don't get it. It's kinda frustrating. Her mom is on the verge of a anti hunter, especially when it comes to wolves and bears but her step dad has hunted in the past.

Good luck to you Dan and Mike.
