Only Live Once

A couple of good fellows coming over my way. Yeah, it should be great fun just to share the outdoors.

Good luck with your application let us know if you get a licence. Is that licence good for bulls only?

Can someone explain "sponsor", and what government anomaly this involves? Government has to be involved in some way?

For me Bill, it has to be the first degree of kinship by marriage. So my wife is Canadian and therefore it would have to be one of her sisters, her dad, her mom, her step dad, or her brother in-law. I'm pretty sure a non BC person has to be sponsored by a BC person or they have to hire a guide. Mike or Dan can elaborate though. Also in my case any of those relationships has to hold a hunting license for the last 3 of 5 years and they have to be hunting with me. I still have to pay non-resident fees but I don't have to have a guide. BC has some phenomenal hunting for probably more species than anywhere else so you can see how frustrating it is for me. Especial since I shot my two once in a lifetime moose here and my mother in law lives in Williams Lake (14hr drive) where the moose hunting basically starts and goes north.

Non-Canadians have to use a guide/outfitter to hunt British Columbia. Non-resident Canadians can hunt the province if a resident accompanies them with a government licence known as a "Permit to Accompany." In short, I can only legally take a non-resident hunting with me if I have a permit to accompany that specifically lists them. They must be either a Canadian resident or related to me as a child, parent or sibling. There are similar conditions in Alberta, except Canadians can hunt private land once every three years under what is known as the hunter/host condition.

Yes Mike is going to be my sponsor for the hunt which is bull Moose only. From what I have been able to read the sponsor has had to have held a Moose tag 3 of the last 5 years and he can only sponsor one species per year. Also there is some type of Royality fee as well, I am still not clear on what exactly that entails.
I am hoping to stay a few days after Moose to spend some time in the field Elk hunting with both gerry & Mike. I really believe I am going to learn a few new tricks from these good men.

Blessings,
Dan

Over the years, I've enjoyed some phenomenal hunts in the Cariboo Highlands (from Alexis Creek, west of Williams Lake and up to Prince George). While some restrictions have been imposed in later years, there is still some fine hunting throughout that region.

Not many tricks to divulge (you'll have to hunt blind-folded, Dan), but hopefully, we'll manage to find a few head of game.

I can only speak of the territories in which I live and work.

Yukon--Non Res Canadian can use a registered Yukon outfitter or a Yukon citizen with a special guide license. But a Non - Res Alien can only use the registered Yukon outfitter

NWT--both Non Res Canadians and Aliens have to have a registered NWT outfitter

Nunavut--same as the NWT

Polar Bear hunting brings on more requirements as does hunting on First Nation land

Dr Mike, we were in that area several years ago, beautiful country, your going to love it Dan.

Dr Mike/Gerry, it is a custom up here that the guest provides the scotch and cigars to celebrate the end of the hunt, does the same apply in BC lol

Cheyenne, if scotch and/or cigars appear with this crowd, all three of us will be sick as a dog and in need of emergency medical care.

Yep

Well, this is fun news to hear. I'm sure you guys will enjoy the time shared together know matter what you all are carrying in the field......... you all know better then that! It's more the person behind the trigger then what goes out the barrel, but three Whelen's would be an interesting field test on game? Know that sounds scientific, giving us the results guys.

Yes, do have fun and enjoy the comaradeire.
God gave us such a beautiful playground. I can't wait to read how you all fare.
