Well still recovering from all the turkey and trimmings I ate yesterday but I took the wife and we headed up into the local water shed to verify where I was going to be at dark 0530 tomorrow mourning for opening day deer season. I've been forced to hunt public land since the farms I hunted in the past have all been developed for cheap housing that is sold at premium prices, the developers get rich and the home owners foot the bill to build the infrastructure. Yep it's a burr under my skin but that's the way our planning and zoning rolls.
As it turns out I saw a lot of good sign and things look promising.
The City that controls the water shed did a control burn on a section of the mountain close to where I hunt and it looks like they concentrated the deer in my area.
I found a rub and scrape line that I can set up on the only thing that could be better is colder weather.
Wish me luck fellows and Ladies. (y)

Good luck! I spent many years hunting public land, and there's an extra level of difficulty... and pride... in taking a nice game animal from heavily hunted land. Takes extra planning, scouting, attention to detail, and luck. In addition to patterning the game, you have to pattern the hunters.

Sounds like you're on the right track with your controlled burn. Be safe, and fill that tag!

Thanks everyone it's been about 8-10 years since I last scored on a deer due to running my own business and health issues.
