Jordan and I went to Arizona on a bear hunt but just before we got there the season was closed because the number of sows allow killed were taken. First time in 10 years it closed this early. So we went Mountain loin hunting but only had dogs for one morning and the rest of the time we looked for sign and then tried to call them in, but no luck. We saw up close, about 25yds away, which excited Jordan, a 400 pound black bear and he is still taking about it. Kind of cool when you see a bear that close and he is not in a cage. The wind was in our favor and when the bear noticed us, he went up a shear 20ft rock face and took off. We did not get or see a lion but it was fun being together in a beautiful place.

Hear are some pictures of a great time, Jordan and I hope you enjoy them.

We ran into that big bear about 175 yards from where I took this picture. Sure wish I had not loaded up my camera in my back pack. It would have been great to take a picture of that bear, but I would have loved to capture the expression on Jordan's face when we made that turn in the canyon and first laid eyes on that big boy at just 25yds from us.

Jordan and I found a lot of fresh lion sign along the Frisco River but were not successful in calling one in.

Jordan and my Friend Mickey taking a last look as the sun goes down on our last day. We truly had a ball and it was a great time for Paw Paw and grandson.

Mike,

You captured the essence of the hunt with those pictures. I would think that Jordan will be talking about this trip with his Paw Paw for years to come. The shared adventure is more important than anything else you might have accomplished. A good post.

A story in pictures....very nice. Nice to see that smile on Jordan's face. Hope you put the pics in an album so he can look at it in the years that follow.

Thanks guys, it is the best time I have ever had in all the hunts I have gone on through out my life. I would not trade the week we spent together for all the money, fortune or fame the world has to offer. God truly blessed our time together. Jordan is such a fine boy and my best friend. He has been hunting with me since he was four years old.

We were sitting at the table one evening and Mickey told Jordan he was the luckiest boy in the world and Jordan immediately looked up and said, "I know, I have Paw Paw." I was blown away and will never forget those words he spoke that evening. God has been so good to me and my family.

Mike

Thta was a great picture story. Memories that will last a life time.

Mike it sure was a great time. Words were not needed to describe the time you spent together, you could see it on Jordan's face. What a smile.

Outstanding.

The photos are great, and from the terrific smile on his face, that was the trip of a lifetime. You did real well. Wish I'd had a trip like that with my grandfather.

God Bless, Guy

Thanks guys, I can't tell you how wonderful our time was together, he is a good kid. His grandmother gave him some money when we started to leave for this trip and told him to spend it on whatever he wanted. Before we got home he spent that money on gifts for his mother, two sisters, his grandma and bought me a coffee cup, spending only 14 dollars the whole trip on himself. Ask me if this coffee cup holds a special place in my daily life from now on?? He told me, "I found one with a cross on it Paw Paw."

Jordan brought back a big rock from one of his favorite canyons we hunted. I wondered why he did, so I patiently waited to see what he would do with it when we got home and why he brought it back. Jordan had a pit bull named Missy that died about six months ago and it broke his heart, he cried hard over loosing his dog. Here is what he did with the rock, he made it a head stone for Missy. Yes, Jordan is quit a young man indeed.
