joe noslers guide #5 shows a starting load of 43 grains thats also their accurate load with that powder midle load is 45 grns max is 47 their rifle 24 inch pipe winchester brass twist1-10 federal 210 primer, myself iv''e never loaded this powder in a 270 sorry i can''t help you more, do you have any other powder on hand? regards jjmp
IMR-4320? Most pet loads for the .270 Win. I have seen revolve around powder burn rates that start at 4350 (be it IMR, H or Accurate) and wind up on the slower side like 4831 (H or IMR) Accurate 3100 or Magpro, Reloder 22 or even H-1000 or IMR-7828.
While a .270 Winchester loaded with faster burning powders like 4895, 4064, Varget or IMR-4320 may be reasonably accurate, they certainly won't be able to attain the velocity that heavier charges of slower burning powders can achieve at safe pressure levels. I also would think that the slower burning powders would provide better loading density, hence more consistent burning which should at least theoretically more accurate loads.
Not that 90% loading density is required for a load to be accurate. I have shot some pretty good groups with IMR-4064 in a 6.5x55 Swede that sure has a lot of empty case between the powder and the bullet. But most authorities (like the Nosler manuals) recommend choosing a powder that almost fills the case.
Two things, 4320 is really a bit fast for optimum use & you don't need a mag primer to light it. The mag primer will only increase pressures w/ a faster powder. Try one of the 4350 or 4831 for higher vel. & better accuracy.
