Pistol powder

My uncle has asked me to try to pick up some pistol powder. What would the top choices for a .357 Mag and a 40 S&W. Tthese loads would be for target shooting/self defense

I load XTPs in 155 and 180.
155- 8 gr Power Pistol
180- 6 gr vv N340 or universal, 5.8 gr
Work up to those but they shoot well.
Power Pistol seems to work w quite a few auto loader calibers for me.

Sorry, those are the 40, don't load 357 right now.

Power Pistol would be a great choice. I load my 40 and 45 with it.
I don't have a 357

I would get some IMR 4756 for the .40 S&W and it will load well for the .357 too.

For target in both I like a faster powder like Bullseye, Titegroup, Red Dot. For self defense I load H110 in .357 Mag and I've loaded Blue Dot in the .40, although I use factory for carry.

I'm gonna be different and suggest IMR 700X. I use it for everything from 12ga to 9mm-45 auto!

Just looked it up and it sure does! Not as good as H110 or a few others but would work if you wanted one powder for both.

I'm using power pistol and tightgroup in my 40 cal with 165 and 180 gr bullets.

I use TiteGroup in my .45 Colts
