I have been messing around since last year to try to find a way to steady my aim while posting/hunting. It had to be easy to set up and move (from one post to another) if necessary. I was reading where it was suggested that with the Stoney Point tri-pod to buy the extra arm deal to support your forearm when shooting. I pulled out my tri-pod, that I've never used, and set it up like a regular bi-pod. Then took the 3rd leg and pulled it up horizontal. I let it rest along the inside of my shooting arm forearm but then pass over my arm at my elbow so the end was outside my arm. Using it like this I can rest the bottom of the pistol grip on the foam rubber of the 3rd leg. I have been dry firing with it quite a bit and think out to 100-150 yds it could be a great way to support my Contender as it sure has less wiggle than any other way I have tried except a bench set up.

So while not bag steady it is a huge improvement over just trying to use a bi-pod. I did order the extra arm thing, to use for resting my (arm) forearm on and will see which is steadier.

Long,

Can you post a picture of how this works.

Actually I found a better way. Flip the tri-pod around so the 3rd leg is on the right. Run it horizontally from the right side to your left shoulder, so it crosses in front of you and rests on the top of your shoulder. Much better. This will only work with the Stoney Point tri-pod because the 3rd leg is attached to one of the bi-pod legs not the top of the rest. So that leg is used as a horizontal bar to rest your pistol grip on.

I can when my wife gets back home from Louisville, in a week. She has the camera.

Thanks Long. I'm trying to visualize what you are saying, a picture would be a big help.
