I’m reloading a pre 64 featherweight .264winmag with a 24” barrel for a good friend for Elk in New Mexico. I’ve got 130gr AB and 129ABLR’s on hand for pills, and H4350 and Retumbo on hand for powder. Any one have a similar rifle they’ve loaded for and have a pet load they like? I’ve tried to dig through old threads but seeing mostly stuff for longer barrels/faster twists. It’s my friends grandfathers rifle, so I’d like to be in the 3100fps range with accuracy, but not at the expense of a rifle made in 1946.

Rifle pictured below.

Crap, wrong forum. Can mods move this to the reloading forum?

I don’t have a particular pet load but Retumbo and 130 grain ABs worked really well in my rifles, I’s ask if anyone has QL they could run for you but I don’t see 3200 being any big deal with That combo. I’d the H website will also have data to get you rolling. They were 9 twist guns so everything should work pretty slick.

on my dad's pre64 i used 61.3grs of imr4831 w/sierra 140sbt's. that's the load i started with and have used ever since until i stopped shooting the rifle 2,500 rounds + down the pipe over 30 odd years not counting the 7 years before i started reloading. started shooting it at 11yo and reloading at 18yo (that was 41 years ago just on reloading). now i have a post64 with only 3 rounds shot and a custom build (if you want to call it that) by me the amateur ba builder (110 action w/32" 7.5t McGowen).
