QL Data on 7mag 150g

I honestly have never seen brass turn purple/blue unless I was annealing it during the process. That seems weird?

I have shot brass that the neck tension was under .01 and never seen coloration changes on them. So unless someone else is aware of this issue that seems odd. I’d think it’s something else?

How many firings on the cases?
This round was the second firing. I was curious about hardness too. It's Peterson and I have some 6.5prc that is on 8th round firing without annealing. Would seem odd that this would be so much further ahead even considering charge weights.

I may not have been clear on this. I do not attest the coloration on the shoulders to my neck tension. I have never seen a case discolor of this nature. They are in my drying rack right now, I'm going to look at them after they have been cleaned to see what that color looks like now.

Neck Tension, or lack of, I am blaming for the erratic combustion effecting my speed, SD, and ES

I’d try to find the most accurate load possible that is repeatable vs velocity!

Learning to shoot well centers around that factor. Even if it means slower speeds, consistency will prevail in you seeing that you got the wind wrong, and/or your fundamentals aren’t up to par.

Even a 7mm-08 will get the job done if the rifle/load are working properly out to 600 or even 800 yards or more….. Even a 2550-2650 fps load with a high BC bullet.

Learning to shoot is all fundamentals and reading the wind, and knowing how to make your fallow up shots count for the previous mistakes and why it imperative to have quality equipment and control of your shots without wondering is it you or the rifle load causing the problem?

The 62.5 VV N160 group looks good. Go test it at distance and see how well it performs. You want something that will consistently hit a 6” target at 600 yards. That’s all you need to train for becoming proficient in the field of hunting if you train in field positions learning how to build a base, (steady) and steadfast in your time management as well as reading what the wind is doing.

That involves looking at what the trees are doing along the flight path, and some basic knowledge about thermals during the day, and how land objects can effect the trajectory of the wind along the route of the wind’s direction.

The best shooters are the ones that can see the wind without seeing it. The terrain will of course be a factor, unless it’s in the wide open over canyons or up/down angles away from the contours of the surrounding landscape.

Yes, you’ll need to walk before you can run, but you’ll want to eliminate any barriers with your equipment first to achieve your end goals.
I feel like we are on the same page here.

I'm chasing the most consistent, repeatable round over speed for sure. In anything I do, that is my goal with my reloads. That was a big reason I mentioned I wanted to check some charts and see what the little bit of extra speed gives me as far as wind drift resistance since they both seem to be producing this early on. Very early on, but both N160 and H1000 showed shots touching each other and accurate.

I'm a long time shooter and hunter and have fired many in hunting situations.. it's the distance principals that I need, and the reading wind that you mentioned. I'm as green as can be in those areas of this fun haha.

FWIW, I get discoloration when I aneal my brass. When I clean the brass in the Frankfort Arsenal wet tumbler, they come out clean and look like new brass.

Thank you, that is what I experienced today. They all came out clean and none of them are showing this purple/bluish coloration to it. I've never seen this just from shooting though. I thought it was odd.
