I am looking at 210 TTSX with RL26 and IMR 7977.

Nosler Brass (not sure on h20 capacity)
Fed 215GM
3.736 oal (0.10 off lands)
26" bbl

I did load (and shoot over magnetospeed) some 7977, so i'm interested to see what the predictions look like in comparison.

Thank you,

Matching Maximum Pressure: 63250 psi, or 436 MPa
or a maximum loading ratio or filling of 110 %
These calculations refer to your specified settings in QuickLOAD 'Cartridge Dimensions' window.
C A U T I O N : any load listed can result in a powder charge that falls below minimum suggested
loads or exceeds maximum suggested loads as presented in current handloading manuals. Understand
that all of the listed powders can be unsuitable for the given combination of cartridge, bullet
and gun. Actual load order can vary, depending upon lot-to-lot powder and component variations.
USE ONLY FOR COMPARISON !

19 loads produced a Loading Ratio below user-defined minimum of 90%. These powders have been skipped.

DrMike,

Thank you, much appreciated.

Here is what i got from 4 charge weights. (7977)

98gr (4)
3204avg
sd10
es20

99
3258
sd9
es19

99.5
3264
sd6
es11

100 - very faint ejector ring shadow.
3281
sd7
es14

A friend loaded RL26 at 95.5, and got 3273 avg on the magnetospeed (5 shots). Same components, but 3.60 oal.

Actual velocity seems to significantly higher than predicted. On both accounts.

I did feel i may have stated a little hot, but from what i could find 7977, seemed to track almost grain for grain with H1000 on charge weights (hodgdon data).

I would not have guessed these loads were approaching 80k+.

Will the "actual" data adjust the QL predictions?

i.e. QL predicted 3055 fps at 98 gr (71012 psi...)

actual 3204 fps at 98 gr.

The friends RL26 load was also 100fps+ faster.

pretty big delta on velocity. or is that normal?

Thanks again.

Oh, and to be clear, the Rl26 load was shot in a different (his) gun.

Check your PMs.

I would be very interested in what your case capacity is as that will change the run, perhaps significantly.
Also the temperature you were shooting at.(ended a sentence with a preposition, my grammar teacher is turning in her grave  )
Freebore or leade will change the pressure curve also.
I wouldn't count on 7977 matching H1000 fwiw. They may be close but batches are going to vary somewhat and newer powders tend to take a while to end up at a burn rate that is predictable (greater sample size)
Lastly, your friend's run and results are going to be different than yours due to all the different variables between rifles, chambers, etc.
Just some thoughts. Sorry if it sounded lecturing.

It was last saturday i believe it was around 50.

What's the process for getting capacity? Weigh spent case, fill with water, weigh again? (I guess i answered my own question there)

Thanks for the help. I'll see if i can sneak away to get capacity this weekend!

Weigh once fired brass and zero your scale. Using deoxygenated water (let it set uncovered overnight), fill the case until you have a convex meniscus. The weight of the water is taken to be the case overfill volume of your brass. This is the weight that allows calculation.

And, yes, Dewey, grammarians everywhere were gritting their teeth.

Haha, Thanks!

I went through the process, closely, prior to reading this. So, oxygenated water..

Weighed 12 cases (the 7977 cases). Avg 288.37 gr.

Picked 3 cases that weighed 288.4.

Filled and re-weighed those 3.

avg 400.33

net capacity = 113.96.

I'll re-do in the AM i guess.

Capacity is going up!

Oops, make that 111.96 with oxygenated water.

113.3 with deoxygenated this AM.

Brass is 2.740 - 2.742 after 1 firing. All of the new Nosler brass is "short" at 2.736 ish to start with. At least the 200 i have were.

I was interested to see what some 1x Rem factory loaded brass looked like.

Measured 10, 273.4 gr.
Measured 3 loaded w/h20, 387.4
Net cap = 114.
They were also in the 2.740 - 2.742 range.

So, Nosler brass SD was like 0.4 grains (for 12).

Rem was SD 1.1 for 10.

Nosler was 15 gr (5.5%)heavier on average, with 0.7 gr (0.6%) LESS capacity.

Guessing it's a little thicker in the web area.
