loads or exceeds maximum suggested loads as presented in current handloading manuals. Understand

I would start out using the CCI200 primers . I don't think a magnum primer will be needed for this combo . you can always try a magnum primer later in your load work up to see if it helps .
jimbires,
Thanks so much for your help.. I have often thought about trying a Magnum primer and wasn't sure if it would be a benefit. Something to try and post the results..
Once again,
Thanks
Ed
I think a magnum primer can be to hot for some powder - cartridges combinations , causing reduced accuracy . I've read a mag primer can cause the bullet to move prematurely . it can always be tried though .
CCI-BR & 200s have always worked great for me with the 270 Win with H-4831. But my 25-06 did best with CCI 250 mag primers with IMR 4350 and 117 Sierra Pro Hunters. You never know until you give them a try.
A standard rifle primer such as CCI 200 (F210, WLR or R 9.5) will provide more than enough brisance to ensure ignition along the entire powder column of a standard powder column such as the 270 Win. If you are hunting in extreme cold (say 0 F or lower), the addition brisance of a magnum primer may help in assuring complete ignition. My experience hunting in temperatures down to -35 C (-31F) has not required a magnum primer in the 280 Rem or similar cartridges.
