My Girl friends son had a buddy load him some 180 grain Bergers for his 7mm Remington mag. The box indicated H1000 but no indication how many grains. Apparently the load shot very well.
Any help appreciated

If he has any left pull a bullet and weigh the powder charge. Also measure OAL first so you know the seating depth.

That would have been too easy between them they think 69 grains, cause " we like them hot"COL just enough to fit in the magazine. He showed me a 300 yard target that was an easy 1/2 MOA

66 gr. H1000 2880fps
66.5. 2880
67. 2895
67.5. 2900
68. 2938
68.5. 2969
69. 2989

The 66.5 load had the smallest standard deviation, 3.

I wouldn't doubt your chrono just yet. Different lots of H1000 will vary quite a lot. How does the brass look at 69 grains? I'd think 2850-2900 would be comfortable for a 7 Mag. How long is the magazine on his rifle?

The numbers are the same on my calipers.

If you have a digital micrometer I would measure them with that since you can get spring back with calipers. I use them when I really want to get close at measuring round objects, Digital because I have trouble reading the small hash marks with out a magnifier. :mrgreen:

BTW, on the 69 load I think you're fine anyway but I'm sure you checked for signs anyhow. QL gets a little touchy right around what it thinks is the max. :grin:
