Thought I'd share a few pics of todays quick Sheep scouting trip. We have a national jeep rally / convention going on here now, so a lot of people in the hills. We were able to do a little glassing late this evening and saw some decent rams a long ways off. 5weeks and counting

Any time you can get into the mountains to scout the terrain, it is a good day. Best of luck on your hunt.

Beautiful country. Thanks for keeping us posted.
What rifle are you planning to use on your sheep hunt?

What are the distances that you typically need to practice for a bow hunt in this area? I know what they would be for elk, but that is usually in timber and not as open as this looks.

JD,

Going to use my Hoyt X-tec. Just put a Spot-Hog 5-pin on it. I still need to verify a few things, but should be set at 68lbs.
Arrows = Axis N-Fused Carbon 400's tipped with the new Muzzy MX-3's They leave quite the nice little vapor trail.

257 Ackley,
That is the beautiful thing about where we are hunting. It's pretty much the exact same place we hunt elk too. The second pic is looking pretty much right at it and we hunt at timber line and above at times for elk. I pretty much set my max @ 40 yards.
I've shot a couple elk @ about 7 to 8 ft so 40 is stretching it. The wind is the real kicker up there

That area right there is the only reason I have the .300RUM. Above timerline there she can stretch her legs.....
