R26 7mm Rem Mag Sierra 160 HPBT

I have killed a Couple Bear and Deer with the 160gr Sierra GKHP out of a 7mm rem mag. Very effective. Makes then very dead fast. 3000-3050fps is where Mine has been accurate with H4831 Re22 7828

Used the 160 Sierra GKHP in my 7WSM for one season. The bullet did everything I could have asked. I switched to 160 grain ABs, but they really don't kill any deader than do the 160 grain Sierra GKHP.

The penultimate IMR 4350 load for 130 PT's in the .270 Win is 55.0 grains. I use a Fed 215 magnum primer for accuracy but you don't need it.

That's what I'm trying next outing OT. I may get 56 in later as this rifle has a long throat, but stopping at 55 for now.

Thanks for the HPBT info guys. They shoot consistently under 1/2" with my new to me Tikka 06. For some reason they wanted to hang up while feeding in my Tikka 308, but that gun shoots 165/168 gr BT's into about 1/2". The BT proved plenty tough at 308 velocity with a quartering away shot on a smallish buck. Went all the way to the hide on the off side shoulder. Deer went about 40 yards, can't complain about that.

While I like the peace of mind premium bonded or partioned bullets bring, standard cup and core bullets work great in all my standard 06 and 308 velocity guns. They usually shoot better and are easier to develop loads too. Thanks again.

I really need to get a chrony soon. Would love to know exactly how fast those 85 gr hpbt's are going out of my 26" 243 Ruger No. 1. I'd like to try those this year too.

I've had great results with the Shooting Chrony Beta Master ( about $120 on sale now at Midway) It has not given me any problems and works for what I want it to do. I would imagine you have that 85 HPBT humming from a 26" barrel! I have never had a problem, that I can remember, in getting any Sierra bullet to shoot well. I love the TSx/TTSX and Noslers but have always had a load with a comparable Sierra made up for practice or as the main bullet for smaller calibers. I like getting 100 per box instead of 50 any time!
