Took the R700 223 Wylde with 80.5g Bergers out again this evening. Shot 10 rounds at 1040 yards at the 20" plate. CB was just over the top, the next 9 is what you see. Wind was pretty light at 1-2mph and consistent, but every now and again it would pick up just a tad. 8 of the 10 went into around 10" Not great, not horrible. I'll take it for what it is.

It's a lot of fun with the 223, that's for sure!

Ya, it's right at about a minute of elevation. About as good as I'm gonna get with it, simply because 223 is just not known for low spreads. This load has like a 50 ES depending on the day.

The CB was totally my fault. I thought it would be a good idea to dial 1.5 MOA more elevation than my previous outing, just because the calculator said so. I knew from my logbook notes that I should've went with my own gut. Live and learn. Definitely won't happen again.

That’s darn good shooting Jorey. Every time I get an itch to build a .22 Creed, I remember the under appreciated .223 and what its capable of with a fast-twist barrel and heavy bullets. It may be the ultimate cartridge when it comes to popularity, ubiquity of both guns and ammo as well as general shootability. That one can use as little as 20-25 grains of powder to hunt deer, and ring steel at 1k is very attractive!
