Very nice. My SIL just picked up a Tikka chambered in .30-06. We haven't shot it yet, but that is coming.

Excellent speed and accuracy.
You have a great hunting load right there.

I'm only getting 2724 with the 180 grain Barnes TTSX.
Your load is smoking. :)

Agree, 2870 fps with 180's, from a .30-06 is impressive. Even better is the good accuracy! (y)

DrMike,

Your SIL will like the 30-06 Tikka. I think the only mods needed on T3's that recoil a bit, is to add a limbsaver recoil pad and a stainless steel recoil lug. I've done the pad on my 06, but not the lug yet. Why Tikka didn't use some kind of steel for that is beyond me, probably to save a few pennies I suppose. Adjust the trigger to your liking and they are good to go. Enjoy. BN

Thanks guys. Don't know if I want to fiddle with this load :)
Just in case anyone is interested, here is the recipe:

56.5grs IMR4350
R-P brass
Fed 210
3.230"

Trigger set at three pounds. Added a spacer and magnum Limb Saver to increase LOP to fifteen inches. Yeah, I think he is going to like it. (y)

56.5grs IMR4350

I love IMR4350. When I first started loading for my .280 23 years ago I had no clue what to use. I asked the guy at the small reloading supply store what he would use and he handed me a metal can of IMR4350 and said this will cover just about everything you'll want to do with a 30-06 based case. I wish I had bought several 8# jugs back then...

DrMike that T3 sounds like it is ready to go. Keep an eye on that recoil lug, as the 06 will start to deform it eventually. Mine was starting to be marred but not quite deformed, so I just flipped it over. But even that is starting to show wear now.
