Got out to the range yesterday and wanted to try out the 180gr PT in my T3. Seems it likes them :)

Velocity was 2724. I am going to try both the 4350s as the IMR shot great as well. Was using Fed 210 primers, but was wondering if might try a different brand just to spice things up :)
Any suggestions?

Excellent results. You have every reason to feel comforted when carrying that rifle/load combination.

That is a great looking group. A group like that sure makes for a quick tracking job, if there is one.

Nice, pretty much anything you point that load at, well collapse right there (y)

That's a darned good load.

That used to be my go-to but I dropped "down" to the 165 Partition with 56.5 grains of H4350 with WLR primers loaded to 3.275" and it shoots just as straight and now that is my go-to load.

I think I am getting 2800 fps average on a hot day with the 165 grain load...not an appreciable gain in velocity per se but I like it.

Boomer, if you're going to shoot/hunt in very cold weather I would suggest a primer change to something hotter. The 210's work well but are mild based on what I've heard.

Thanks guys. I just loaded up some using WLR primers and H4350 (54.5 and 56.5) and also IMR4350 with the same charges.

I always used 56gr of IMR 4350 or H4350 with the 180. Later I went to R22 and had good results with both the 180 and 200gr Noslers. Of course, each rifle is different. I certainly do not think any elk would know the difference between your load or mine!

I use 56.5 grains H4350 with 180 PTs and ABs. I saw no pressure signs up to 57.5 grains. You should be able to get 2800 fps with H4350 and 180s, even with a 22-inch barrel with no pressure signs.

I run 57.0 grains of IMR 4350 with the 180 grain Barnes TTSX for 2724 fps.
I just switched to the new IMR 4451. I haven't chronographed it yet but I should be getting around 2670 fps with 54 grains of powder. I'm not showing pressure signs and the load is more accurate at 200 meters than my 4350 load. 2" versus 1.6" at 200 meters. At 100 meters the 4350 load puts three shots under a dime. Sadly that load doesn't hold together at longer ranges.
I'll retest the 4451 load and chronograph it in the next week or two. I'm wanting a more temperature stable powder than the IMR 4350 and the IMR 4451 looks to be it.

Please keep us posted. Would like to hear how that powder performs.

So far it's been doing pretty good as a substitute for 4350.
I've used it with two loads for the 30-06 and one for the 6.5x284.

Shot another group with the PT and H4350. The only change was WLR primers instead of Fed 210. 54.5grs seems to be the magic number.
