Will add more to this shortly but did a couple bullet tests 160AB and 175 PT. 160's are done in my mind they flat shoot. Got some work on the 175's. I will post more on that later. Test fired the M1917 06 went well and shot a box through the 22-250 trying to shoot a good group and just couldn't get it so I was going to pack her up and I thought well I got 5 left might as well shoot them. 5-shot measured 1.220" but the first 3 measured .299" I really wished I would have just left it with those three in one hole maybe next time I won't be so cocky.

Nice job Jake. It sure seems to go like that doesn't it! You probably had beeds of sweat on your forhead telling yourself, don't blow this, don't blow this! I would have. :(

So here is the full post. It sure was a lot of fun. Shot my best group ever until I got cocky and had to ruin it by sending number 4 and 5 down range. Not bad for a $600 rifle and factory ammo!

Worked with the .280AI some shot one more group of 160's this was the start of the day after being up all night wasn't the best but 5 in under an inch I pulled one way out then I had one a touch low and three in .620" or so.

The 175 testing wasn't very good velocity was well below what I was expecting. Showed some signs of accuracy but nothing really worth while.

Did a jug test also with her collected 2 160AB and 1 175 PT so that was a success.

Then finished fixing up a Winchester M1917 30-06 that had been sporterized, put a few down it to make sure it was safe to fire. Then shot the 22-250. Drug it out as a spotter for the 06 and I figured I might as well double check it make sure it's sighted in.

It's always a good day when we can spend time on the range, Jake.

Of all the things I put on my posts I forgot to put the group size for the 22-250. 3-shots measured .299" Outside to outside or .075" Center to Center. With the 5-Shot being at 1.220" O-O or .994" C-C really wish I would have stopped after 3! Was putting the crosshairs on the corner of the box she is definately dialed in!

RABBITS BEWARE!!!!!

Rifle in the truck bed is the 1917 isn't it? I like it. Good rifles.

That 175 Nosler Partition shot well from a 7mm Rem mag I had in the past, booted out pretty hard. The 175 Sierra SPBT Gameking shot a little tighter groups, but I used the Partition on a good bull elk, even if it wasn't quite as accurate as the Sierra.

Yes, that 280AI is sweet it seems to really like those 160's. I have some work with the 175's not getting near the velocity I was expecting. Hoping she will tighten up as a push her. Although the accuracy may be the nut behind the trigger.

Guy,

Yes that's the 1917. It's pretty cool. The cock on close is a cool feature. The stock was pretty warpped. 1/8" gap on the right side of the barrel and tight on the left opened it up and cleaned her good. Pretty easy. It was bedded but not as smooth and clean as I expected.

I was thinking of working up with that 175 Sierra and the PT as well. I like to have a less expensive bullet for shooting steel and targets. PT's don't seem to grow on trees as well as they should.

Good shooting Jake! Your right about " Not bad for a $600 rifle and factory ammo"! I would take that 280 AI any day of the week.
