And a wish for a great Canada Day for you, Dan (even if you see it backward).

Thanks to everyone for your comments.

Sarah has been my buddy since she was born. We do a lot together, and I'm thankful for it. When she was little, we'd ride the dirt bike together (she sitting in front) and we'd always end up picking wild flowers and stopping to watch chipmunks. Later it was identifying rock formations and discussing science & nature. She's a smart kid, and now nearly 22 and a senior in college. Time flies...

DrMike: Sarah is left eye dominant. Otherwise right handed. I tried and tried to get her to shoot righty, but she's strong willed. After seeing how well she does, I stopped trying to convince her...

SJB358: Seating the bullets deeper to function in the Ruger composite 5-round magazine didn't hurt anything. There's quite a jump to the lands, but it helped if anything.

I'm in a quandry.... I would like to get her a nice left-handed rifle of her own - you know, real wood and real blued steel, something that she could/would keep. But, she prefers the mil look... might have something to do with Xbox Live and FPS games. She rocks with a sniper rifle... ;)

There are some nice LH blued steel guns out there just depends what you want and how much you want to spend, Remington, Savage, Browning, Sako, Ruger and others make them. You have even more good choices for ss/fiberglass or laminate guns. One thing is for certain, she really can shoot well :)

I enjoy seeing family shooting and hunting pictures, that is awesome. With our work schedules my son and I don't get out shooting together to much these days but we do hunt together in the fall every year.

I bought her a Ruger LC9 for her 21st B-day last year. It's a nice reliable little pistol that fits her small hands really well, but it's not all that accurate - given her talent, she notices that - but then, I tell her it's meant to be a defensive weapon... ~4-6" groups at 10 yards.

She's shot my Kimber 1911 45ACP, and I'll let her shoot my S&W M19 357 soon with mild loads. Those two are pretty accurate, but they are a little big for her. I'd like to get her a target 22 pistol that better fits her small hands. I'm still looking.

For rifles, I think she'd have the most shooting fun with a lightweight but quality/accurate 223 sporter. Ammo is cheap and plentiful, and recoil is minimal. With the right twist and bullet, it would work for antelope and deer at moderate ranges. She's not a serious hunter, but likes to be out with the family.

The little Ruger Scout is nice cuz you can remove spacers to adjust for length of pull. It's set to it's shortest length now, and it fits her well. They do make the Scout for lefties.... BT

Man, that Scout for lefties sounds like just the ticket.

Great teaching buddy. I wouldn't expect any less from an old Marine though!
