I have been out for awhile. I have been on a large fire 27,000 acres just north of Lost Wages, got back thursday. Have spent a couple of days catching up on my sleep. I have been wanting to fiddle with my 308 Tactical primarily the AOL. I have been grouping around the middle .400's but felt that there was a better combination out there. So I started with my best load so far and adjusted the AOL. I then shot a group with 3 of my new Lapua brass and the Sierra 168's. The Seirra's have been responsible for my worst groups up to this day. Next I will try the Nosler 168 gr. CC's with the Lapua cases. AOL is critical as I found again today

EM, that is some fine shooting  you don't have to play to much with OAL.
Thanks for sharing & photos.
PS. Thank you for your Service as well:)!!

Blessings,
Dan

Love range day pics. BTW, thanks for the service...I live less than 25 miles from that area. I take my daughter there in the winter for snow activities. Much appreciated,

The mountains were beautiful, we were even able to experience a modest sized flash flood while we were there. I had never seen one before. It happened very fast.

...can't say as I'd blame the 168 Sierras. I mean, give me the "respectability" of an '06, the panache' of a .300 WSM, or just plain "horsepower" of a .300 WM, getting shot outta a .308 has to be "embarassing"...

...nice chootin', bye the way... :)

Bill, good shooting! That rifle shoots bug holes, I may change my mind about Remington, at least that model.

Charlie, sorry to say but that model is no longer in production. I think what my recent experimenting shows that with most rifles, you can find a sweet spot with the right combination of components. That's what gives us reloaders a leg up on those who don't. What you see in the picture is a group shot at 118 yards. So in reality, its nearly 16% smaller at 100 yards. When I post I post the corrected size to 100 yards, but the photo's are of the actual group.
