Well with a crazy busy world right now, I managed to sneak out and shoot this morning. 45 out with no wind and fall colors at the range. Here are the results.

30-06 3 shot groups at 100 yards

#1=1.458"
#2=1.345"
180 AB with 56.0 grains of H4350. I have had this load shoot 3/4" groups before so I am going to blame it on the shooter and lack of shooting the last 3 months.

I am thinking about bedding this rifle this winter to see if I can make it a sub 1" all the time.

I will be using this combo next month during rifle season in WI.

22-250 with 55 Vmax and 35.9gr IMR 4064

#1=.724"
#2=.984"

6.5 Grendel 107 Sierra HPBT with 25.2 gr of XBR8082

#1=1.073"
#2=1.055"
#3=.525"

25-06
115 PT and RL19 set .02" off lands

48.5gr=2.815"
49.0gr=3.307"
49.5gr=1.376" 2 in 1 out
50.0gr=2.032"

I would love to get the 115 shooting 1" groups. I think I can if I play with the 49.5 charge and seating depth.

I will have to verify how far off the rifling I am, but the 115 PT's shoot really well with RL19 in my wife's 25-06. This is a mild load, running right around 3025. Light recoil for her, but it seems like it should still get it done.

I "think" I am around 52 grains of RL19, with WW cases and CCIBR2 primers. I will verify it all though. Rifle seems to like to shoot right around 3.070" though. Matter of fact, I am going to load some more up for her to hunt with this Fall..

I imagine those will get the job done, Scotty. Some fine groups, to be sure.

Thank you Mike. Yet another Model 70 that needs to get blooded....

I'm certain it will happen very soon. Go get 'em, Lori.

For sure! Tell Laurie (SP) to kill something!

What would you guys recommend I try with the 25-06 and the combo of 115 PT and RL19?

Would you go though the work of putting in pillars and bedding the Ruger 30-06? Would it make it a better shooter?

WT, I went through my load book last night. My load is WW brass, 51.5 grains of RL19, CCI250 and the 115 PT seated at 3.070". Seemed in that rifle, it shot better as I shortened the OAL. I would give it a try, there is room for more speed, but my load runs 3027FPS outta my wife's 24" barrel. You could easily bump it up to 3100 without drama.

If you have the mean, pillars and bedding have never hurt a rifle that I know of. Just about everytime it had mad the rifle a much more consistent shooter.

WT, I had my Ruger glass beded almost right out of the box due to a fore arm warping during hunting season after it was exposed to 2 days of rain. We didn't know about pillar beding in the 80s but the glass beding was a great improvement over how it shot right out of the box before the wood got wet.
I would invest in the beding and renforce the fore arm barrel channel also though some may think it's over kill.JMO

I ran into that same problem with my Ruger #1B in .300 Wn. Mag. That's when I learned the ugly truth, that Ruger apparently does not seal the interior wood on their rifles. I collect Ruger #1 rifles in their various forms and not one of the currently 20 Number 1 rifles I have is the wood sealed. I have all of six M77s, three RSI's, two .358's and a .35 Whelen. There's a reason the .35 sits in a Ramline stock and one of the .358's as well.
Oh, and on the #1B that got rained one it took almst 6 years before it dried out enough to reasonably hold zero.
I don't ask anyone to take my word on this. Just pull your rifle from the stock and check it out yourself.
Paul B.

I will have to work up to that load in my rifle. As far as the bedding of the rifle, I will have to see how much compound I will have after I do my 6BR. If I have extra, I will do it this winter.
