Got out to the range and tested out some loads in the 300 RUM. Looking promising...

Gotta love the rum! One of my favorite cartridges! They tend to shoot anything and everything. My current one I honestly think I could load sand and rocks and it would shoot moa or better

Man, that 168 gr is just begging to be tweaked.
Try seating the bullet deeper in .005" increments and walk it into the other two shots.

Nice work!

JD338,

Yes, my load OAL was 3.600 so will start seating deeper. RL25 seems to be a good powder. Might have to play around with it some more. Can't find any RL33 up here yet.

To be sure, those loads are promising. Gotta' love it when a load comes together in a good rifle.

It definitely looks like you are on the right path!! Keep up the good work, that is a calibre that can really reach out and touch something .

Blessings,
Dan

I don't think it will take much to get it where you want to be.
You are almost there boomer, good work.

That is very excellent. From what I have read the 300 RUM is one of those cartridges that is typically very accurate to the point of being bench rest accurate in many rifles. Sort of like a giant 308 Winchester, as we all know most 308's will shoot. I can see why your guys shooting these big boomers purchase 8 pound kegs!!
