With 40* and 50* sunny weather the snow has melted enough for me to use the club range so I packed up the newly bedded rifles along with some ammo for each to see if I have improved anything. The range road and parking lot was cleared so I could drive up behind the firing line to unload but the range still had a foot of snow on it and I had to clean off a bench to set up my bags and other gear. I got set up and placed multiple targets on a backer so I wouldn't have to make extra trips threw the snow and hung it at the 100yd line. I fired several groups on the same target with each load. The 7RM shows some promise once I get the trigger polished and reworked. It has lots of creep and is just plain nasty. But I think it showed some promise with what I saw for these groups. I would adjust the windage and walked them across the target for each group.
I fired three different bullet weights with both rifles 140gr BT, 139gr Hornady SP and 120gr Sierras.
The 35AI got the same treatment but needed to be sighted in again because I had changed the torque on the action screws and adjusted them to 55"lbs which caused it to shoot 6" high. Thinking I will need to rework my loads again but it to looks a little better than it did before.
Here's some pictures of the targets The 200grAB and 225AB shot to the same point of impact and got mixed together. Don't understand what happened to the 250gr PT and 250gr Speer loads. All the 35 AI loads were loaded with W748 and the 200gr AB showed promise but I don't know what happened with the 250gr PT and the 225gr AB.
The 2 bullet holes on the 200gr and 225gr target with tick marks were sighters.
Hopefully next time out I'll be able to use the Chrony and individual targets.
