Got a chance to get out to a 1000 yard range back home with my Dad this morning. I had 23 rounds left for my 260 to play with so we each shot a group at 100 to make sure it was dialed in and to get warmed up and then ran a target out to 500 yards. It was 26 degrees out with no wind and there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground. Good day to shoot!

I printed this 3 shot group at 500 that measured 2.5" from edge to edge.

Then we had some real fun....at the back edge of the range there is a great big rock, part of an old rim rock that is at 1106 yards. I picked out a snow spot on the rock and dialed in 9.7 mils and let it fly and was dead on for height but missed about 8" to the right. There was a 1-2 mph wind and the next shot connected with the snow spot. I'm estimating that first snow spot was probably 10-12" big. I found another one just up from it that was probably 6" big and we tried to connect with it. I finally did hit it on the last shot, but probably shot an 8-10" group around it which isn't too bad at that distance. It was way too much fun. I can't wait to get home and load some more ammo and get out to test it out some more at extended ranges.

Sounds like a very productive day. Good, positive feedback from your rifle.

Here you go killdeer.

Forgot to add the load was 140gr Amax, 44.2gr H4350, Fed 210M, R-P case. Velocity is 2779fps.

Great shooting, that load looks to be doing very well. Any signs of pressure at 44.2 gr H 4350? I'm going to work up some loads with the 140 gr Ballistic Tips tonight.....

No pressure signs at all in my rifle. So far I'm very pleased with the accuracy of this load. I should have 500 bullets, my reworked dies, and a new AR500 steel target waiting for me when I get home. I'm anxious to get a bunch more loaded and get some more trigger time.

Very nice brother. Keep at it you will be surprised at one can accomplish with real world practice.

It's great, nice looking and shoots very well also. Great rifle. Your loads must be just right!!

Thanks Woodycreek. You might drool a little more in a month or so.....it's going in for a little paint work in the near future. I just need to convince myself that I can be without it for a few weeks!
