Well I beat the wind this morning, after my PT I moved my target out to 650 yard. Dusted off the Win Mag and shot two three shot groups. The first had two bullets within 2 inches and the third 7 inches lower. I dialed in a couple of extra cliks to compensate for the heavy air and 3 clicks to the left. Here is that target. I am very happy with the results. Next is to shoot with the Nosler Partition.

Oh, yeah. I reckon that'll do for elk. Great shooting, Bill. You're set.

Very nice! That will definitely do the trick for hunting season! What kind of velocity are you getting and what barrel length do you have?

Good shooting, Bill! Think Scotty and me have to get more range time to hang with you.

You aren't kidding about that! I gotta get home! You are whooping my but with the long guns!

Great shooting Bill. I would say the mighty 300 is ready for action come a few weeks! Very impressive shooting. Looking forward to hearing what the PT's do..

This is an off the shelf, push feed 1966, Mod. 70., 24 inch factory barrel, Chet Brown stock, 3.5X10 lupy, basix trigger. I paid $160 for it in the spring of 70 or 71. I am guessing just slighty more than 3000 fps with that load, I do not own a chrony!

That's minute of elk right there. Where can you get those 59 cents paster?

I believe at Sportsman's. They make a great aiming point out to about 450. With the 10 power I have trouble seeing them farther than that!

Bill,

Nicely done! Way to go keeping those young Marines on their toes.

Well done Bill, that is MOA/elk for sure! That must be for Wyoming? You can't see them that far around where you live!

Here are a couple pictures of a similar hunting area we will be in.

He might be able to find a place to stretch it out some!

That's very nice shooting. What elevation are you doing your testing at? Just curious.
David

Dave I live at 1100 feet. Testing is about 50 feet from the house. My temperatures are a lot higher than my turret is built for. My turret was built for 6000 feet elevation, and 30 degrees. I am sure thats part of the reason the group is a little low.

There will be a dead elk when you hit him with that load. Good shooting and the next elk season if you get a shot will prove to be fatal for the elk. Way to go man.
