Range time before the snow hit

Rommel,

You're going to make me change my mind and build a 6.5X47. Quite the enviable set of targets. You, sir, are to be congratulated.

I think it's a great idea DrMike. A light rifle in this cartridge will be ideal for deer size game. The ballistic is similar to that of the 260 but with less powder.

I'm familiar with all the positives; it's the money that is stopping me at the moment. I have enough built up for another build, but I did have my heart set on something else. Then, Joel started this thread.

I understand the feeling DrMike. So many project so little time and money. :)

I've only tried 3 powder. 4350 in both Hodgdon and IMR and Reloader 17. All three shoot tight at 100 yards but only used H4350 for competition. I think any powder suitable for 6.5-47 will work on my rifle.

Here's 5 shot @ 110 yards with IMR 4350.

Are you annealing this brass with a machine or was this new factory brass in the picture?

Is the load you are using with H4350 the same now or did you lower it a bit? I thought I remembered you saying that you backed off a bit on that powder. How much of a jump do you have to the lands or are they touching/jammed?

My barrel is shot out of the 257 AI, and think that will be the donar action for the light rifle built in a 6.5X47L. I'm thinking a fluted #4 Bartlein finished at 24 inches would make a great LR deer and speed goat rifle. The other option will be to shoot out the barrel on the 6.5WSM and use that (have to change the bolt face). One more weekend in a p-dog town should just about wipe that barrel out  .
