I went with a pile of rifles and a turkey gun so I knew I was going to get smacked around a little but it went well.

I shot the Sauer 30-06 and Browning 270 just to double check cold bore and to shoot them at 3 power. The 270 cut the 1" spot with 9x and 3x and the 30-06 was .75" high with 10x and 1" low on 3x. It sure is different shooting at little spots when the scope is on low power.

The 7mmRM was a little to the right so I made an adjustment and went too far. The last shots grouped to the left so I want to load a few more and rezero next week. This rifle also shot 1.5" low on 3x when compared to 10x.

I don't know if it is me shooting low. Both scopes are Leupold VXIIIs. Still .75-1.5 low at 100 is still a dead deer if I put it behind the shoulder. If they are farther than 100 yards, I should be able to crank the scope up a little bit before the shot.

I had 3 rifles to shoot groups with.

.243 with 85 Partitions and IMR4350. I tried different depths.
.03" off the lands=1.683 with 2 close and 1 out
.04" off the lands=.775" with 2 close and 1 out
.05" off the lands= .744" with the first shot out and the last 2 in the same hole

I am going to try seating deeper for the next range trip. I know it is good enough but why not try it. Speeds were 3150 to 3215 fps. I think the 85 Partition at that speed would put a hurting on a deer.

Ruger 30-06 with 165 Partitions and 58.3gr of H4350
I tried different depths. Measurements are off the ogive

2.661"=1.778" group 2 touching 1 out
2.651"=1.669" group
2.641"=2.427" group

I was not impressed with my speeds 2774-2821fps was my spread of 10 shots. I would like to get them faster but 58.3 is max in 2 of my manuals and above max in the Nosler book.

What would you try next????

.338wm with 225 Interlocks and 75.0 gr of RL19
I tried different depths. They are measured off the ogive.

2.664"=2.806" group
2.654"=1.166" group
2.644"=2.764" group
2.634"=1.223" group

I am a little confused by a big group then smaller followed by big and then a small group. I gave the rifle time to cool down and shot all 4 groups at the same speed. (give or take a minute or two)

There is promise here but I don't know what to try next????

Last up was the NWTF BPS with 3.5" Hevi 13 #7s. At 40 yards, I got 289 hits in a 10" circle. The pattern was 4-5 inches higher than point of aim so I need to adjust the sight a little. That should be a dead gobbler if he shows his head.

Wisconsin,
My 30-06 load is with the 165 Ballistic Tip, 59.0 H-4350, CCI-250 Primer, winchester brass.
I have the bullet seated out almost the length of the magazine. I get 2830 fps. I don't think your that far off with the velocity at least with a Partition. If you want more velocity maybe a powder change would help. I did get 2900 plus with Ramshot Hunter last year. I loaded 60, 61 & 62.0 grains with no pressure issues, using the same primer above. My gun is a Rem 700 22" barrel.

I see the Nosler Manual has R-22 listed too. I purchased some it not long ago to try with the 165 BT. Good luck with your load, let us know how it's going then.

WT, I would try your 338 loads again, at least the ones that shot the best. See if they repeat. Your other loads look pretty good. Seems like your 243 is working real well.

You also might wanna try a .5 grain up and down with your 338 and see what happens. I won't usually mess with .5 grain increments, but there are a few on here that have great results working like that. Maybe try your most accurate seating depth and see what happens. What sorta speeds are you getting from the 225's with RL19?

Your 30-06 may benefit from the same sorta action, it'll at least tell you how consistent your loads are across the spectrum.
