Rare model 700??

My best friend’s dad sold me this REM 700 Sendero blued / fluted 25-06 with laminate stock. This is the first blued fluted sendero I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen the matte black heavy barrel (non fluted) with the HS stock and the stainless fluted with the HS stock, but never a blued fluted with laminate stock. Have I been living under a rock?

He had a gunsmith polish the bolt. Looks cool. He said it looked too fun for him to shoot or hunt with, so it has sat in the safe for many years.

I too have never seen a Sendero 700 thusly configured but the vast majority of my M700 knowledge has come from ADL and BDL variants. All of the Senderos I have handled have been stainless/synthetic combos.

Yours is a beautiful rifle in any case, in a spectacular caliber!

Quite a rifle!

I've never seen one like that either. Synthetic stocks and either blued or stainless barrels is all I've seen. They do tend to shoot quite well.

Great rifle and should be a shooter. My friend had one exactly like that in the 1990's BUT in the standard sendero stock. Skim bed it and she will rock.

Very Very possible if she is wearing the original stock. Also the non-matte bluing is non-standard.

Beautiful rifle. Love the laminate stock. Attractive, strong, and stable. Awesome cartridge also. 110 gr. Accubonds and 120 gr. Partitions both should shoot very well and be death on critters.

Great looking rig. I believe this model was offered around 1999-2000. I had one ordered in 6mm Rem and the order was never fulfilled. I believe Remington called them the VL something or other because if I remember right, they were all small bore calibers.

Its looking like it may be a custom order. I am not seeing anything that says a Sendero was available with the laminate stock in the couple books I have.
Bkordon's looks like it would have been a VLS but they were all short actions.
