I have a Ruger 96/44 that I would like to develop a deer and hog load for. Does anyone have any experience with loading for one of these rifles?

I had the semi-auto and used H-110 and a 200gr HP Nosler or Hornady bullets. Killed deer and bear with it but never had the chance to hunt hogs with it.

I've only loaded for 44mag pistols.
But that being said, I'd probably start with H110/w296 and the 240 gr Nosler.

grry10, I've loaded for that particular rifle and have found 22.8 grains of 296 with a 240 XTP works great. Keep a close eye on your OAL and you should be fine.

What is your twist, and max overall cartridge length? If it shoots well then try the 300 gr with H110. It will handle everything. . If twist is not fast enough (like some traditional levers) the 250 Partition with 24 gr of H110 and again will handle everything in North America.
