A local shop has a Remington 10X in .22lr with a Konus scope for $800. I am guessing it is a tack driver. How far can you shoot a .22lr with a barrel that long? I am guessing it was at least a 32" barrel and it was heavy. I really have no reason to buy it but it looked cool.

Don't you mean a 40X?

The barrel length does nothing to enhance the effective range of the .22 LR cartridge. In fact, I believe the optimal barrel length for a .22 LR is around 18 inches or so...any more length is actually slightly detrimental to velocity. I think the real advantage to such a long barrel is the extended sight radius you get with iron sights.

The 40X has a reputation for great accuracy.

I've never heard of the 10X, but a RiverRider hit it on the head. A 32 inch heavy barrel on a .22LR would be a little excessive.

If it is was a 40X I'd say pick it up and never look back.

I don't know about 32" on a .22 (though I did use up a couple of 30" barrels on my .308) but the barrels on older .22 long rifle target rifles were often long, to achieve a longer sight radius. Much .22 competition is done with sights, not scopes, so the longer sight radius helps.

I don't own a 40x, though I'd sure like to. My .22 target rifle is this old Win 52b, and as I recall the barrel is about 26" - though I could be wrong. Currently it's set up with an equally old 20x Lyman target scope with external adjustments. It has been set up with sights though. Just shown as an example of the older style of .22 target rifles. They can be quite accurate:

Nice rifle, Guy. A Winchester 52 is definitely on the want list...
