How may of you remove this ? I have found even the plastic stocks have it!

I removed the pressure point an a M700 BDL 30-06 and it shot great without it.

All my other M700's have the pressure point and shoot sub MOA.

You can remove it with sandpaper and a dowel. Shoot it before though. It might shoot great with it.....

If it is a model 7 with the thin barrel (308, 7mm-08, 243, etc.)...I'd leave it as it is. They shoot better with it, in my experience.

You can check to see how it will shoot without forend pressure. Pull the barreled action and put a double thickness of business card under the barrel shank. Should hold the end of the barrel away from the stock. If it doesn't work, all you are out is one card.

You can check it before you remove the presser point but it has been my finding that Rem. 700's shoot best free floated. I would glass bed the stock while I was at it. You can get a kit for around $20.00.

Spot on! Usually thin barrels are whippy so they need to be stabilized by a pressure point.

I have a model 70 featherweight that I glassed the action first, while free floating the barrel. This didn't work too well, so I did a full length barrel bed and it has been a great shooter since! I have 2 700's and have had the best luck glassing the action anf free floating the barrel. Just wondered what the rest of you had the best luck doing.
