i just got a remington model 710 in a 300 win mag and I have been having a little trouble with the action. each time i shoot a round and go to eject it the bolt will jam an i really have to pull really hard to get the shell to eject. And i was wondering if anyone else is having that kind of problem as well. thanks

Sounds familiar...Know 2 different huntin' buddies that tried that setup, neither of them were impressed. Both have since sold the 710 and went to a 700....

Ok thanks. I did have a model 700 in a 270 but I traded it for this 300 magnum.

Hmm....remington model 710

What can I say?

I had the same rifle and never had a problem with it.
I shot the @#$% out of it. Never had an extraction problem,
The rifle is a bit cheesey compared to the 700 but mine shot very well.
I must confess that I sold it but Ishot the @#$% out of it and got $50 less than I paid for it.
Not bad for a gun with scope for $300.

Take your gun to the gunsmith and have him polished the chamber. Its typical for a factory rifle to leave the factory with reamer marks at the chamber. You can do it your self by using a very fine emery cloth rapped on a dowel. Good luck.

Sloppy chambers and possible slight high point in the chambering so when the brass expands the bolt has to free it from the brass filling the uneven space in the chamber. What can I say, it is a Rem 710!!!!!

corbin - you shooting factory ammo or handloads?
I am shooting handloads in it right now because thats all i will shoot through it. But my friend tried a factory load and it still did the same thing.

You could always send it back to Remington and have them fix the issue.

I have read that you shouldn't polish the chamber walls. The case needs to grip the chamber durring the firing process and polished chambers can lead to more pressure on the bolt as the case will tend to slide in the chamber.
That does not mean you shouldn't clean the chamber
