Recently loaded some ammo using Remington 9 1/2 M primers and had several misfires with them. They are seated well, so I don't think seating depth is the problem. I normally use Federal and Winchester primers and have never had a misfire with them. By the way, some of the misfires would fire on the second try, others would not.

Anyone else have a problem with Remington primers ?

Which caliber are you using? New brass? manufacture of brass?

I've never had an issue with Rem primers. I did have to switch to the Federals over the CCI benchrest primers in my RUM however. More of a hangfire issue.

Look, I don't care who the manufacturer is, sometimes companies have a problem with a particular lot of product.

I once had a lot of Remington 9 1/2M primers that had a problem in that the firing pin would poke a hole in them on about 25% of the time. I contacted Remington and told them the lot number. Sure enough, that lot had a problem. They sent me a check to cover the primers.

I once had a lot of brand new Remington cases for 7mm BR. Out of a bag of 100, four of them would not hold a primer. Brand new cases!

I once bought a bag of Winchester .338 Win Mag brass. In the bag was a 7mm Rem Mag case. That was bad enough, but the darned thing did not have a flash hole in it. There was a primer pocket, but no way for the fire to get to the powder!

With mass production, you just have to expect problems from time to time.

That's all very true Mr. Flowers. However, I think that all of us who hunt want the best components we can get for our ammo. I would hate to have the trophy of a life time in my sights and have a mis-fire with a primer from a company with a known history of quality problems. If I use brand X and never had a problem with it, why would I want to use brand Y knowing that I might have a problem with it based on it's past history?
If Remington or anyone else has a bad lot of anything out there they should be letting the customers know it. They tell us all the time how good they are, via various magazines and the internet. Why not tell us when you have something of poor quality out there?

Yes manufactuers have bad lots from time to time, but good companies strive to reach 0 defects and keep their customers informed. Which is how they beat the competition and stay ahead of the pack.

Use Federals. They wont or shouldn't malfunction. I"ve never had a problem with thousands of rounds using the regular rifle and mag rifle from Federal. I've also never heard nor read of anyone else having problems with Federal. I only use Federal and CCI BR-2's and 200's for my varmint rifles.
