Remington R-25

Looks good and they chose some great cartridges for it and the single stage trigger and free floated barrel sounds good as well as it looks designed well. I hope it is put together well and holds up without a bunch of trouble. The price is indicative of a lot of production cost and hopefully good quality control.

I believe big green acquired Bushmaster and that is where this line of rifles is coming from. They do look good and the price is comparable too.

I've also heard about the relationship / purchase etc ??? of Bushmaster......
Only one question tho....chambered in the 7-08 before the .260 ??? hmmm

Ok, Here's the story.
Cerberus Capital Management, a Private equity firm, has been on a gun buying spree.

They've aquired:
Bushmaster: April 2006
Remington Arms in April 2007
Cobb Manufacturing in August 2007 (they make AR and bolt style rifles in .308, 30.06, .338 Lapua, and .50 BMG. Their president was named President of R&D at Bushmaster, Cobb also designed the MCR system as seen on Future Weapons with Mac)
DPMS Panther Arms in December 2007
Remington Arms just aquired Marlin Firearms.

After the acquisition of Remington, Cerberus cleaned house, axing several Remington executives, and replacing them with Executives from Bushmaster, hence the new R-25 line.

The good news is that Cerberus has a reputation of rejuvinating companies, with an emphasis on improving management, modernization, investing in R&D, and improving marketing efforts.

Lets hope this leads to some interesting innovation that we can all test at the range.

Thanks for the info and I hope also that it translates into some good stuff for us to use at the range.

Founded in 1992, Cerberus (named for the legendary three-headed dog in Greek mythology that guarded the gates of Hades) invests primarily in companies which are near bankruptcy in hopes to make the businesses it acquires profitable. Feinberg has stated to his employees that while the Cerberus name seemed like a good idea at the time, he later regretted naming the company after the mythological dog.[1]

The company has been a voracious acquirer of businesses over the past several years and now includes sizable investments in sportswear, paper products, military services, real estate, energy, retail, glassmaking, transportation, and building products. Its holdings amounted to $24 billion in 2006. While many of its peers have bought out companies in order to strip assets and sell on for a profit, Cerberus builds its reputation on identifying firms that are undervalued, and assisting in rejuvenating them by working with current management.[2]

On October 19, 2006, John W. Snow, President George W. Bush's second United States Secretary of the Treasury, was named chairman of Cerberus

Firearms - Acquired Bushmaster Firearms, Inc., from Windham, Maine native Dick Dyke for an undisclosed sum in April 2006, and purchased Remington Arms in April 2007. Under Cerberus direction, Bushmaster Firearms acquired Cobb Manufacturing, a well-respected manufacturer of large-caliber tactical rifles in August 2007. Cerberus also announced the acquisition of DPMS Panther Arms in December 2007.[4] Remington Arms is in the process of acquiring Marlin Firearms.[5]
