Remington Sportsman 78 .30-06

2nd UPDATE:

I finally got a chance to clean up the 78.
I can honestly say that the rust I had seen in the original pics was just light surface rust. I wiped her down with cleaning solution, and the rust came right off.
Then I got to work on the bore.
I ran the brass wire jig down twice. It must have been sitting somewhere where a lot of dust got in it. But, after several patches being run through it, is as shiney as mirror. WOO-HOO!
I believe she's going to be a good one!
The Remington Sportsman 78's were only made from 1984 to 1988.
I looked up the barrel code, found out it was made in July of 1984. I was 15 , almost 16 when it was made.
I took pics for y'all to see how well she cleaned up.

That is looking quite attractive. It'll be fascinating to see how it performs for you. I would expect that it will not disappoint.

Thank you DrMike!
I am pretty sure it will. She cleaned up beautifully. Better than I expected.

Nice

How is the BDL shooting for you?
Haven't been able to get out to shoot it yet.
But it's on my short list.

Looks like you found a diamond in the rough. Post up a range report after you get to spend some quality time with it.
