I am thinking of getting one of these in .22-250 Rem. or .243 Win. This gun will strictly be for the bench at 100 to 200 yards. I have heard some negative comments about the stocks on these guns being too flexible, flimsy, etc. Any comments about this gun and my intended use? I am also thinking about the Savage 12 FV, but it does not have that wide forend. Thanks for any comments.

I have the std SPS in 243, and it shoots great. This particular stock isn't that bad. I have a Savage 12FV in 204 and that stock just plain sucks. The forend would flex when I would use a bipod. I have since put my 204 in a Boyd's thumbhole stock.

I have yet to see a savage not shoot great, especially a bull barrel! I can not say the same for Remington.
