Very informative, thanks for sharing!! I remember an article in ST I think
that was written back in the early 90's I believe. It was about the Raging
Bull 454 Cassull & the relatively new 260 gr. Part. Gold ammo from Winchester. Their testing concluded that these bullets would actually penetrate more at higher velocities than at the lower speeds. We all know that concentional bullets at higher speeds either fragment or expand to a wide frontal area & limit penetration. It is hard to drive a flat washer. So, these bullets offered alot, they would still expand a little at the slower 454
vel. at 125 yards or so but the would still penetrate up close. They found that the front would shear just as Relex's test showed & the rear would act as a wadcutter & keep going. Reflex, isn't that pretty much what your test shows. I was a little worried about this bullet being a little light for caliber, but not now. I use it in a XLR at 2,425 vel. when I hunt a place in the NF that has Bears,Hogs & Deer as possibilities.
