I am starting to load for my Ruger #1 SS, and just picked up some 160gr AB. Has anyone used this combo, and what would be a good starting load?

Thanks

I have 7828SSC. Would it be much different?

SC stands for short cut, better metering, Its the same powder. Just remenbet to start low and work up.

Boomer, I've been shooting an STW for awhile and tried RL22, Retumbo and 7828. Of the three IMR7828 worked the best as far as velocity and accuracy. Remember to keep the barrel cool on this number.

Thanks for the replies. I will try RL25 and 7828. I hope to get out to the range today or tomorrow, and will post my results.

I have a 700 Remington with a 27" Pac-Nor SS Supermatch barrel, and it just loves Retumbo with the 160 AB or Partition. 3300 and under ¾" always. Regards, Eagleye.

What would be a good starting charge? I also picked up some 140gr AB to see which weight the rifle liked the best.
