Reviving the 300 Win Mag / 200 Accubonds

Woke at 3 am, and gave my daughter a call to get her ready and she sounded bad on the phone, she had come down with the flu and fever, so i advised her to stay home and see the doc. I left at 4 am with 3 ice chests filled up, price at the Watermill for a bucket of ice is 2.50, it used to be 1.75 last week. Spent 25 bucks just for ice, and filled up with diesel, met the guide at 5 am at the ranch. He introduced us to the owner and two other guides. We chatted a bit before heading to a 6 x 6 box blind which is 15 feet up. Dawn broke and we were seeing deer everywhere, some nice whitetail bucks up to 140-150 class, the bucks were chasing does in and out of the brush, and two bucks had sparred as well. Two young nilgai bulls emerged from the thick brush about 600 yards away, just walking along across the road and disappeared from sight. A few nilgai cows with a young calf trotted across the road about 150 yards away. My focus was a solid bull ranging about 600 pounds, but we have been seeing 3-4 young bulls in the 300 -400 pound range, passed on them. Went to camp to eat some tamales, and check out a spot across a pond about 300 yards away where several nilgai cows have been running in and out of the brush. We chatted about reloading and hunting before heading to another blind on the far side of the ranch, but we did not see any nilgai, just some nice management bucks, a cow nilgai / calf and some blackbucks. I did not get anything that day except some fun seeing those animals and the friendly staff made it lively. Spoke to the owner, and he will book me for another nilgai or a whitetail hunt soon. I need to choose. Pictures of some nice management bucks and a blackbuck.

Always good to just see game!
At least you got too some nilgai!
What do they charge for a nilgai hunt?

Nice blackbuck too...on my bucket list.

Nilgai in Texas run up to 4,500 -5,000+ for a 2-3 day hunt for a trophy bull with lodging, as for blackbucks, i think around 3 grand and up for the animal depending on horn lengths.
Nilgai cows are cheaper, around 1,500 to 2,000 roughly. Some outfitters do thermal hunts for nilgai at night for cheaper fees, but its not my preference.
