RR, not sure if you noticed, but your bolts are on the wrong side!

Very nice stocks! Those are very slick looking. I love the laminates a bunch. Weather resistant like plastic and warm like good ole wood.

Jake, could you do some pillars/glass in your current stock to keep it from splitting further?

Scotty, When it first started craking I stopped shooting it. I recently had it pillar bedded and added a second cross bolt right behind the mag. When I was reworking my 260 AB loads the other day it cracked out the rest of the way and a big chip has srated right behind the tang. I'm not sure that it was new, but rather the full extent of the first crack exposed. I'm not sure if it has caused any real structural damamge, but I don't want to chance it. Plus it looks bad, and I don't want to get any water in it and have it split worse. And I think this might be a project that I can take a bit of pride in on one of my favorite rifles.

You guys have some fine looking rifles on here. Thanks for sharing.

This is the stock i am having to replace. Love the look of it. A bit more figure couldn't hurt though. If it wasn't cracked i wouldn't dream of changing it.
I got a better pick of it somewhere with a bull elk I'll do try to get up.
Jake,

The stock that cracked was your 375Ruger? If you decide to restock it in walnut you might consider a couple of crossbolts added when you bed the action. If you do a laminate you can probably leave it alone. I can't wait to see what you do! I really like the "102 Classic" in a "AAA" walnut.

Yep. A 375R. I'll get a pick of the crack. Contacted Ruger Many times about it and they wouldn't do anything about it because I free floated the barrel and that "altered" the stock

You mentioned being unsure of the rosewood tip cap. They will eliminate it upon request or substitute ebony, imitation ivory, black plastic or a tip cap made from a different colored hardwood or laminate for a modest upcharge.

I like the rosewood on mine, I think it goes well with the dark claro walnut.
