Rifle/Cartridge Wish List?

Think I need to add a 26 Nosler. Ran the numbers and it would make for one flat shooting cull rifle.

Whether it is a 264 Win Mag, or a 26 Nosler, a 140 PT or AB around 3200 is pretty serious stuff. I love the bigger bores, but I really like the 264 Win Mag slinging those 140's.

A 30-06 CRF or PF;
338 WM CRF or 35 Whelen
308 PF
260 CRF
280 CRF
Possibly a 25-06 with 26" tube.

I want an original Ruger 44 Auto carbine.

Glen's Army Navy Grand Rapids MN has one on the shelf in pretty good shape. I think they will ship to your FFL. Shot my 3rd and 4th deer with one of these borrowed from my uncle. Sharp little kick on these things but sure carried nice in the woods.

I guess mine would be:
Win 95 Russian contract 7.62X54R
Tikka or SAKO 6,5X55 with Purdy wood
Rem 722 in 222 rem

A few Remingtons:
.222 and 6mm BDL Varmint Special
Old School BDL Mountain Rifles in .280, 7-08, and '06
CDLs just like Scotty's and Guy's in .25-06, .30-06 and .35 Whelen (pre-Frankenstein recoil pads)
Classics in .222, 7x57, .300H&H

Here's my Nosler wish list:

250 Savage
6.5 Creedmoor
284 Winchester

I think I want these simply because they don't offer them. That's human nature right; wanting something you can't have.

They make a 257 Roberts, a 260 Rem and a plethora of .284 rigs. So I should probably be content.

Marlins:
Cowboys in .45-70, .38-55
Guide Guns in .45-70, .450 Marlin. No ports, please!
I seem to recall Cowboys in .25-20 and .32-20, but I could be wrong
A .444 would be cool. Perhaps I read the early Executioner novels too much as a kid ?

BK,

Back in the days of hunting in Michigan I used anything that would put a deer on the ground. I had a Marlin 444 which I later sold for a Browning 1886 saddle ring carbine high grade in 45-70. If you didn't have that deer dead on the ground out in front of you...... someone else might see it run past them, bring it to the ground, and claim it as theirs!!!!
I once even had a Browning BLR in .243, took a deer at 25 yards I stalked up on in the snow and called in, took four 100 gr. Nosler Partitions to bring him to his knees! Needless to say it was a little excessive on the ammo. But hey, that was one of my most memorable stalks I've ever had! That was my last year to ever hunt in Michigan again.

Years later bought a 1894P in 44 Rem. Mag for preseason scouting. Shot Federal 300 gr. hard cast bullets extremely well, I loved how you could cycle through the rounds using a level gun. Very fun stuff.

I've never hunted with a lever, but there were a couple of seasons when I still hunted elk in the Coast Range that would have been great hunts for an SS .45-70!

Savage:
110 FCP... The HS Precision model in .338 Lapua
111 Long Range Hunter 6.5-284

Interestingly, the LRH model in available in some slightly offbeat but cool chamberings... .260, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5-284.

Gerry
For that 35rem of some short, I'd love a 141 with a 24" barrel and a Model Seven 21" barrel and stocked like the classic.

Winchester Model 70 Super Grade, 270 WBY.
Nosler Model 48, 270 WSM
Sako Model 85 Bavarian Carbine, 7x57 Mauser or 6.5x55 Swede
Remington Model 760 Carbine, 30-06 Spr. (Year 1968)
Winchester Model 88, 284 Win.
Shiloh Sharps 1874, .45-120

And the dreaming goes on, on and on, you get the picture! Someday maybe!
