I am wanting to use the RL 17 powder to reload for a 7mm WSM with a 150 grain bullet, nosler E-tip and 160 grain nosler AccuBond. I would also like to reload for a 300 WSM using 180 grain nosler AccuBond. I am having trouble finding any data on the RL 17 powder for those bullets, can anyone supply me with some loading data for any of those bullets and RL 17 Powder i have even asked nosler and they were not able to help me and alliant was not able to give me any info either, so anything would help. Thanks

The following data is generated with QuickLOAD. Remember to use the coolest primer that will still ignite your charge. Start law and work up in safe increments.

Cartridge : 7 mm WSM
Bullet : .284, 150, Nosler E-Tip 59426
Useable Case Capaci: 70.842 grain H2O = 4.600 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.860 inch = 72.64 mm
Barrel Length : 24.0 inch = 609.6 mm
Powder : Alliant Reloder-17

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.

.....................You probably won`t find any published RL17 data for your 7mm bullet choices or for the 30 cal 180 gr AccuBond either.

For my 300 WSM, RL17, Berger VLDs, plus other bullets I use, I started 4 grains under Alliant`s maximum listed data and worked up a half grain at a time. For example. You might want to begin using 62 gr of RL17 behind the 180 gr AccuBond for your 300 WSM. Alliant`s max loading shows 66 gr. You might also find as I did, that RL17 gives better accuracys as the pressure is increased using near max and maximum loadings.

And even if there were any of the published data you seek, you should still use the same process and work up your loadings anyway looking for pressure signs and testing for accuracy along the way.

No short cuts.

My .300 WSM with the Nosler AB is set at 66.9 gr of RL-17 Federal 215 primers and shooting sub MOA at 200 yards. My ladder tests showed decent grouping between 66 gr and 67 gr. My rifles sweetspot is the 66.9gr.

RL17 seems to be a good powder for those. I tried it in my old 25-06 and it gave decent speeds and decent accuracy, just didn't keep the rifle long enough to really wring it out. Hoping to give it another shot with the new one. Looks really good for the 7WSM and 300WSM though. Scotty

And here be my latest Ruger Frontier shorty compact 300 WSM RL17 chrony results;

65.7 gr RL17 behind a 185 gr Berger VLD averaging 2922 fps... :grin: ... Moving right along.

24" barreled 300 WSMs should average around 3030-60 fps or so with this loading.

Wow! Ain't nothing shabby about that load. Alot of power in a small and light rifle. Sounds like a super set up. Scotty
