I would expect RL22 to give better case fill and perhaps somewhat better performance, though that is by no means assured.

Sas874runner

Welcome to the forum.

In addition to RL 19, look at RL 22 and IMR 4350.

JD338

SAS, the 165gr AB/BT and RL19 is a classic combination in the 30.06.
As JD mentioned, IMR 4350 is forum favorite for this 165's in the "06

Thanks for the info. A friend gave me some rl19. That's why I asked. From what I read it seems that I should stick with my normal varget. Or 4350. Performance appears to be better.

RL-19 is very close in burn rate to 4350, and a little slower then varget. In general, anyplace you can use 4350 or varget, you can use RL-19. As for what combination will your rifle prefer, the only way to know is take it out to the range and ask it. If you are already satisfied with you current load in the .06, I wouldn't worry about it now, and just keep it on the shelf until it was time to play around with a different bullet or caliber.

Finally got out to tey my loads for my 06. Found out it likes 60gr of RL19 quite well. Chrony is reading an average of 2840

Very nice group. I would shot it again just to check and if it is the same, I would load some up for hunitng.

Yep, that looks very good. Seems like the speed is pretty darned good as well.

Can't argue too much with that sort of result. If it's repeatable, you just made that rifle boringly consistent! I did the same with H4350 in my -06.

RL19 is the unloved step child on internet forums and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. I love it in my 06, 7mm RM and 243.

If I could find some load data for it, I'd even like to try it out with some heavyweight 223s.

That's fine by me, just more in stock for me to use. It is an EXCELLENT powder and would work well from the 243 to the 338 in my uses.

Great group for sure. I'm shooting the same load in a Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker, and shooting right at 3/4" groups. Seems to be a great load combination.

Ya the load is awesome. Time to start messing with seating depth. I have a lot of room to play with considering that its a rem. 700 action. Those were loaded at 3.330 oal. The lands are sitting at 3.492 oal.
