Roosevelt Elk Photos

Spent a few days on the coast, Northern California and Oregon, earlier this week. Came across some Roosevelt elk and thought I'd share some photos:

The girls:

My wife named this one "Fern" because she was feeding in all the lush greenery:

The boys:

And good grief - I want to see this bull in September!

Came back north via a more inland route, past 14,162' tall Mount Shasta in Northern California:

Another shot of the big bull:

We were real close to him, maybe 25 or 30 feet, but it was real dark in there. When I lightened up the photos, there wasn't much clarity. Ah well, I'd like to see him in season for sure!

Without a doubt! Now that is 45-70 country if there ever was any! Talk about tailor made for that country and big elk!

Dang, he is going to be a dandy of a bull! Too bad they disappear into the jungle come hunting season....looks like you had a nice trip. Thanks for sharing the pics!

He is a big boy, for sure. That is pretty dense vegetation; it does make hunting them a challenge.

It was a good road trip - Mama was with me and we took the car - good thing too, rained almost every day. Nice break from work, a short vacation.

Great pics guy! One of these days I'm going to make a trip to the west side and try my hand at getting one of those big bodied Roosevelts. I'm sure it will take more than one season to finally get one, but i'm sure not going to get one just sitting here on the East side dreaming about it.

Great pictures and beautiful country Guy. What a jungle to try and hunt them in. No wonder they get so big bodied, they have so much to eat.
