Rough Start To 2026

Well, after a bit of back and forth on whether she might wait on sugery, my mom went in today and so far everything has gone as well as we could expect. No hiccups during the actual surgery and she will be staying at the hospital for the night to make sure she is good to come home after that. It will probably be a slow recovery, but nothing negative to report so far.

All the thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. A couple complications have emerged, but we are praying that they remain minimal in impact. The first thing is that during the surgery my mom's bladder got nicked. This certainly makes things less comfortable but will hopefully just heal up with the rest of it without hiccup. Right now she is running a little bit of a temperature, not extreme, but she will be staying another night at the hospital to ensure that that passes without worsening. Playing it day by day right now, and again we are very greatful for all the well wishes.

Been so hectic I forgot to give an update here. My mom got back home the next day which was good because the nurses were being punks. She went back to Little Rock after a week to get her nicked bladder checked on and everything looked good, no complications. If something had been amiss, they would have had to open her up again, so it is a load off that she's all good there. She seems to be healing up well and has been walking around as she feels able. All good signs.

I don't have a great understanding of everything involved with the surgery, but it largely involved removing fibroids, which in my limited understanding are kind of like oddly structured tumors. After debating whether she needed surgery for so long, the doctor showed her after the fact how the fibroids were situated in such a way that they ran the risk of basically strangling multiple organs, a potentially life threatening senario. So we don't need to doubt the need anymore and can know we made the right decision. She had close to 6 pounds of fibroids removed, which is kind of crazy to me to think that was just growing in there. It actually had immediately evident effects such as her being able stand up straighter.

So all good news at this point, thank you all for the prayers.
